sister
a play with songs for two actor/singers and improvising chamber orchestra
Sister is musical play about a brother and sister, who live on opposite sides of the world, and so only speak over the phone/internet. When we meet them, the brother, a painter, is preparing for his first solo show– an exhibition drawing on their childhood. Sister is about the intensity, power-play and emotional landscape of a sibling relationship, set against the backdrop of his anxiety, her propensity for stretching the truth, and the shadows of their shared memories.
"one object, one relic, one piece of the life once I knew…”
Sister’s R&D stage was supported by a Developing Your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England. The show was selected for Mercury Musical Developments for BEAM, a showcase of new British musical theatre, and began workshops in Summer 2021 at Britten Pears Arts in Suffolk with support from the National Lottery through Arts Council England. We’re currently welcoming conversations with potential producing partners.
